33rd Annual Clearwater Jazz Holiday

by SueAnn Carpenter

On October 18-21 at Coachman Park in Clearwater, aficionados of the jazz world can enjoy the vibes with a backdrop of warm breezes, brilliant sunsets and a great beach on the Gulf of Mexico. One of the longest running events of its kind, the Clearwater Jazz Holiday brings visitors from all over the country and expects to draw 60,000 jazz fans this year.

This amazing event is remembered as having started as a 10-day series of free jazz concerts held on the back of a flatbed truck at venues all around the city of Clearwater. This year,  there will be an admission charge due to drops in corporate sponsorship and grant money.

In the past, the Jazz Holiday has featured  today’s most popular and innovative jazz stars plus legendary talents like Tony Bennett, Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Mann, Dave Brubeck, Tito Puente, Stephan Grappelli, Stan Getz, and the Count Basie Orchestra. Clearly The Clearwater Jazz Holiday is an experience not to be missed.
